The National Park Centre

The 1,800 m²  large National Park Worlds Hohe Tauern in Mittersill is one of the most modern National Park Centres in Europe. Visitors wander through 10 fascinating natural spaces one after another and get to know and understand the extraordinary variety of the largest protected area of the Alps along the way. With the spectacular 360° Panoramic Cinema, the exhibition is one of the most popular visitor highlights in the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region. Discover “the hands-on exhibition”, an experience for old and young.

10 Worlds:

Eagle flight panorama:
24 breathtaking film flights lead into the valleys and to the highlights of the largest national park in the Alps. See the world through the eyes of a flying eagle!

Marmot & Co:
In the central area of the center is a large model of a typical landscape at about 2000 to 2200 m altitude with the corresponding plants and animals. In the bekriechbare earthwork you can visit the sleeping marmots.

360 degree panoramic cinema:
The "360° National Park World" offers a unique spectacle of nature - as if you were in the middle of it. Thanks to elaborate time-lapse photography, changing weather, light and shadow conditions, as well as an impressive soundscape, you feel like you're in the middle of the national park, surrounded by mighty peaks, deep crevasses, rushing mountain streams and forests with ancient trees.

Treasure chamber & 3-D cinema:
The 3D experience cinema makes the unimaginable understandable: the formation of the Alps and the Tauern window at the crash of the continents - 250 million years in a breathtaking 15 minutes! And in addition the legend cave: The mysterious Venedigermandl, which come annually from the area around Venice into the mountains, in order to look for gold, silver and precious stones here could look with their "Venedigerspiegel" into the mountains and see treasures there. They carry away the treasures they find in sacks or small cauldrons. In addition, they can enchant other people, make themselves invisible and sail through the air with the help of a cloak or cloth.

Mountain Forest & Almsommer:
From tree Methuselah to woodpecker. The mountain forest gallery and the alpine meadow can be explored independently. Lie on the mountain meadow and enjoy the alpine summer. Lie down between the cows on the meadow and enjoy the magic of the mountain flowers in a magnificent picture show. Through the speakers built into the couches, you will experience the typical sounds on the alpine meadow.

Wild Water:
Here you enter the unknown world of the mountain stream. The brown trout, but also all the insects can be seen here in 25-fold magnification. Between the stones you discover bizarre stream insects and a dipper dives in the current. An experience as if you were right in the middle of it and fully involved.

Lawinendom:
Dive into the natural forces of the high mountains in the 270°- cinema box. The course of the water swells to the mighty waterfall. You stand in the middle of the falling water. In the white expanses of the high mountains, an avalanche breaks. Thundering, it drives downhill and surrounds you with its dusty masses.

Glacier World:
A large block of ice cools the glassy room. "Grasp" here the icy beauty of glaciers.
