Both Sulzbach valleys are famous due to their natural and unspoiled beauty. For hiking and cycling, there are no more beautiful valleys in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
The Upper Sulzbach Valley is approximately 13km long, the Lower Sulzbach Valley is a tributary valley of the Upper Salzach Valley that is around 12km in length. Here, you can find an uninhabited alpine region in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Only a few alpine lodges are present for livestock farming. A couple of them are catered - here you can get cool drinks, coffee, cakes and small meals produced by the farm.
At the foot of the Großvenediger in the Wildkogel Arena, you can hike in the river basin of nine glaciers. Narrow valleys with steep slopes lead to the large glacier area of the Großvenediger, the highest mountain in the state of Salzburg with 3,666m.
