The National Park
The 1,856 square kilometre Hohe Tauern National Park stretches across three federal states - Salzburg, Tyrol and Carinthia - and is one of the world's most magnificent high mountain landscapes. With the Großglockner, the Großvenediger and the Hoher Sonnblick, it is home to the highest and most famous mountains in Austria.
The national park has the largest glacier areas in the Eastern Alps and offers an unrivalled habitat with thundering waterfalls, tranquil mountain lakes and breathtaking glacial streams as well as unspoilt nature with a variety of flora and fauna. Why not explore this flora and fauna? Hike or climb in the national park, cycle through one of the valleys known for their unspoilt beauty - you will be amazed at how beautiful the world can be!
